Week 2 Term 4
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
The students returned to school last week, and it was wonderful to see the buzz across both campuses filled with children’s laughter and play. We have many sporting events, classroom activities, and whole-school celebrations this term, including the NSW PSSA Athletics and the Boorowa Netball and Touch Football Carnival this week, as well as the Northern Region Chess Competition next week. I wish all students participating in these events the very best and know they will represent St Gregory’s beautifully.
School Drop-Off
Just a reminder that our school provides supervision from 8:30am each morning. If you need to drop your child off earlier, TeamKids Before School Care has places available, and students should be booked into this service if they must arrive before 8:30am.
The number of students arriving before 8:30am is growing, and this is a concern as there is no teacher supervision during this time. Please support us in keeping students safe by not dropping them off before 8:30am.
Our school day commences at 8:55am, so it is also important to ensure children arrive by this time. While we understand that things happen and there will be occasions when students are late, please try to avoid this as late arrivals impact valuable learning time.
Sunday’s Spring Festival
This coming Sunday, our Community Council, with the support of teachers, has organised the St Gregory’s Spring Festival. This will be a showcase of music, dance, Musicorp and choir performances, followed by the last school disco for the year.
A timetable of performances has been shared so you can choose to attend for a short period or stay for the whole event. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase. We look forward to bringing our community together for an afternoon of sharing and fun.
Grandparents Day
Following the Spring Festival, on Monday 27th October, we will hold our annual Grandparents Day. Grandparents—or special friends if grandparents are unable to attend—are welcome to visit classrooms and share in the children’s learning.
- 10:00–11:00am: Lowe Street campus classroom visits
- 11:00–11:45am: Morning tea at Macquoid Street Hall
- 11:45am–12:40pm: Classroom visits at Macquoid Street
The children are excited to welcome their grandparents and show off their work!
Teacher Appreciation Week
During Week 3, we will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, which aligns with National Teacher’s Day. This initiative has been led by one of our wonderful parents, Ellen, who has put many hours into making it a special week for teachers and students alike.
I am incredibly proud of and thankful for the staff at St Gregory’s. Their dedication, care for the children, and passion for teaching are always evident. They continually strive to refine their practice to achieve the best outcomes for our students.
A big thank you to Ellen and her helpers for ensuring our staff feel appreciated this week. We are very grateful.
Classes for 2026
Staff will soon begin the process of creating class lists for 2026. This is a collaborative process involving class teachers, specialist staff, and the school leadership team. Each year, class combinations are adjusted and new classes compiled to best support the learning and social development for all children.
Parental requests based on educational concerns will be considered. If you wish to raise any concerns regarding your child’s class placement, please put them in writing to Mrs Reedy by Friday of Week 5, Term 4 (12th November). While we will consider all concerns, no guarantees can be made.
Changing Schools in 2026
If your child (except Year 6 students) will not be returning to St Gregory’s in 2026, please email the Front Office at Office.Stgregs@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Faith Focus
In this month of October, we continue to pray the Rosary to draw closer to Jesus. This beautiful tradition includes praying the Hail, Holy Queen prayer. Together, we pray:
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To you we cry, the children of Eve;
To you we send up our sighs,
Mourning and weeping in this land of exile.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
Your eyes of mercy toward us;
Lead us home at last
And show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus:
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Amen.
Have a blessed fortnight.
Tiffany Reedy
